Article: Questions To Ask Before or After You Quit Home Schooling
Are you quitting because God told you to or is it because the world is telling you to?
Did God tell you to quit home schooling because of money or is He asking you to find the Faith in Him so He can show you that He will take care of the finances?
Is He also asking you to find the Faith so that He can show you that He will take care of the energy and time you need to home school and keep a positive attitude?
Do you have the time to unbrainwash your children from all the things that they will learn at school, things that you won’t even be aware that they are learning?
Do you have time to fill in all the gaps that will come from a public school education?
Do you have to send children to public schools to be lights to those children or will God provide your children the opportunities that they need to minister to those children, in a more non threatening environment?
Are you saying that home schooled children never have opportunities to make mistakes? I know many Christian home schooled children that make the same mistakes as public school children.
What opportunities in public schools, (that are really worth having!) did your children miss? My children have more opportunities than they had in public schools and it costs me less money. Our public schools here, even required us to pay for and bring in our own Kleenex. The opportunities that I had in public schools I would have been much better off without. The extra curricular activities I had away from my public school education, were way more rewarding!
I taught in public schools and private schools for many years. I have many friends that have also taught in private and public schools. The two things that we all strongly agree upon are: that we never got an adequate education ourselves, until we started home schooling and it is so much more rewarding teaching classes to home schooled students. The only education worth having is one where it is built upon God’s Word (Jesus Christ, the Bible and the Holy Spirit). Everything we do must be built upon the Rock, to have a strong foundation.
Private Christian schools are not always the answer either. I know. My first 8 years of school were in a private Christian school.
Could God be telling you that He wants you to be home schooled? I struggled with home schooling until I realized that He not only wanted my children to be home schooled, He wanted me to be home schooled also. Even though I have a teaching certificate, home schooling is one of the hardest things I have ever done. But the more Faith I have in God and the more He teaches me, the easier it gets. My Faith in Him and home schooling has made me a better teacher, a much better light unto this world, a better mother, a better daughter (to God), a better writer, closer to my family and friends (even to my friends that don’t home school) and a better witness. My Faith has grown so much stronger because it is based upon His Truths and not on my worldly experiences.
God will use you whether you and your children home school or not, but there is so much He could share with you through home schooling that you will not get now, because your life will be too involved wrestling with the secular world. I will pray for you as I pray for my friends that don’t home school. One of my closest friends, does not home school. I am hoping that I can help her, by sharing with her, the many Truths that God is teaching me through my own home schooling experiences. Another one of my close friends does home school. She is not a teacher. She is in a one income family and cannot afford to be. She also has been very sick. We pray for each other constantly and God has shown us through His many miracles, how He takes care of His faithful ones in sickness, health, emotional needs and even financial needs. God wants to share His Glory with us.
May our Lord Jesus Christ bless you and keep you, whatever way you choose to serve Him.
